No problem Air travel!

After many years of Air travel, that includes trans-Atlantic, round trips to Australia and many domestic UK flights, I still have a fascination for pictures shot from the passenger's seat.
The image above might show why . . . as the weather was as bad as it gets before our early morning flight to Belfast from Stansted Airport. Thankfully things improved as we climbed to the cruising altitude and welcome sunshine and as we neared the Northern Irish coastline we overflew a very distinctive Scottish? coastline that I want to try and trace and then we hit a few islands that included Lighthouses.

As you can see the weather had improved incredibly and as as it turned out the South of the country was battered by gales and storms, Northern Ireland seemed to survive relatively unscathed . . . The next image is unusual as I managed to catch the shadow of the aircraft as we landed - not something I have seen before on my many flights.

The final image of this sequence shows the famous but now redundant Harland and Wolff yellow cranes in the background - subjects of tourist tours rather than the hard work of building ships . . . Quite a dramatic airport approach that outdoes the run in to Aldergrove but doesn't quite take the prize for the approach to Kai Tak Airport in Hong Kong!

As the title suggests, we had a very smooth travel itinerary on Friday morning as it took 35 minutes from Harrow to Stansted, we parked instantly and the shuttle bus was waiting. We transferred to the terminal in 10 minutes and approached the checkin desk with no queue ahead of us. Our only delay was waiting for Sinead to finish her cigarette before joining us at the head of the non-existent queue! Even though the baggage belt was out of order and we had to deliver the bags to the Oversize Baggage belt we still made it through security in double quick time, even with Hannah having to remove her Ugg boots! After the usual Ryanair scrum we settled into our choice of three seats on the right of the aircraft that allowed me to hog the window seat and pass the short flight time taking pictures.
